Gigs & Tours round-up: Kelela, Patrick Wolf, Bert Jansch tribute
By Aly Barchi | Published on Friday 8 November 2013
The already twice–approved Kelela has made London’s Electrowerkz the site of her first real headline show, which is nice. Kelela ‘& friends’ will appear live on 14 Nov, presenting a slice of her still excellent new mixtape, ‘Cut 4 Me’. Tickets and details are here.
Also, folk-pop heathen Patrick Wolf, seen here hiding behind one of his kind, has announced some shows to mark the Winter solstice. The ‘A Night Of Winter’ tour, which confusingly comprises nine nights in all, will hit the UK on 16 Dec via Hove’s Old Market, winding up at London’s Union Chapel on 21 Dec. Dance around those dates – chanting if you like – to the tune of Pat’s 2013 remake of his song ‘The Libertine’, whose video he’s just debuted:
A host of artists will pay their respects to the late Bert Jansch, who died in 2011, in December, playing a charity concert in aid of the Bert Jansch Foundation. Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, Suede’s Bernard Butler and folk greats Roy Harper, Martin Carthy and Donovan will all perform at London’s Royal Albert Hallon 3 Dec, as will members of Jansch’s one-time band Pentangle.
