Rounding up the latest gig news…

I have to say, I’m still a bit of a floating voter on Future Islands and ‘that’ Letterman appearance, but that’s just me. Still, since the rest of Planet Earth really like them, it follows that most of Britain/Ireland will be pleased to find that the band have added new live dates in Britain/Ireland.

Of the four shows FI have announced, the first is on 2 Nov at Dublin’s Vicar Street, and the last on 6 Nov at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. All go to support the group’s fourth LP ‘Singles’, and follow a string of UK shows in May that are all sold out. Pick up tickets to the non-sold-out November ones here.

Spiky Leeds creatures Eagulls, seen here being liked by me, have added a slew of new October shows to their schedules, this in light of the recent emergence of their self-titled first LP. Check the exact dates, which fit in after the band’s many summertime festival appearances, and find Eagulls hitting Cambridge’s Portland Arms first, on 7 Oct, via this link.

Eagulls, by the way, will play beside Neneh Cherry, Clean Bandit, and their kindred spirit Engelbert Humperdinck on the first episode of the new series of ‘Later… With Jools Holland’, which airs on 15 Apr.

And following on from his confirming his long-awaited third LP in ‘Luck’ only the other day, Tom Vek has gratified fans’ patience all over again with the news that he’ll play live at XOYO in London on 11 Jun. Other than a drop-in at Latitude on 19 Jul, it’s Tom’s only announced UK show so far, so hurry over and buy a ticket to it via his home site.

LA’s impeccable Teebs (pictured), aka producer Mtendere Mandowa, has committed to a solo show in the name of his new LP, ‘Estara’, which had its release via Ninja Tune this very week. He’ll appear at London’s Birthdays on 11 May, so check details re that here, and stream Teebs’ Jonti-featuring lead ‘Estara’ single ‘Holiday’ precisely here:

So whilst you’ll have to pay to watch Teebs at Birthdays, there’s news next of a free-entry set at the same site by Bernard + Edith, the opiate pop act approved on CMU just last month. B+E will appear live and in the flesh, backing their eerie first single ‘Poppy’, on 9 May. RSVP to its FB event here.
