Lady Gaga’s disdain for her ex-best friend Perez Hilton has reached an all-time high, with Hilton even having to deny that he’s ‘stalking’ the singer. It all began when Gaga fans said via Twitter that they’d seen Hilton near Gaga’s NYC apartment, claims that led a frantic Gaga to fire this since-deleted tweet to Hilton: “STAY AWAY FROM ME + MY FAMILY YOU ARE SICK TRYING TO RENT AN APARTMENT IN MY BUILDING TO STALK ME. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!”

Denying reports that he’d been escorted from the building by security at Gaga’s request, Hilton released a statement defending himself via his site, paired with an ‘expose’ on “Gaga’s lies” in which he said that he’d been viewing a flat in Gaga’s building with a mind to live there with his family, and had no idea it was Gaga’s residence.

In the statement, he says: “My heart hurts that my former very good friend Lady Gaga, a person I used to call my ‘wifey’ and traveled the world with, is making very public and very untrue allegations about me on Twitter. While it is still too painful for me to go into detail about why I chose to no longer make her a part of my life, I will say that I am a critic and not a stalker”.

He continued: “Any allegation that I am stalking her is utterly false, defamatory and now appear to be putting me in danger. I will continue to be a critic – in a way that is not mean or involves name-calling, and I will continue to have an opinion and talk about music and songs, like Gaga’s ‘Applause’. As the suggestion that I pose a danger to Gaga is preposterous, if fans want to send a message of support to her, they should buy her music”.

The pair have been trading jibes for a while now, with Hilton ‘gloating’ over low sales of Gaga’s new single ‘Applause’, and Gaga declaring after the situation at her apartment block that Hilton sent her a text on the day she broke her hip implying she’d deserved it. Gaga fans have since been bombarding Hilton with angry messages and death threats, even starting an #OperationKillThePig campaign on Twitter. Sigh.
