Frank Black sets up label
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 11 November 2011
Frank Black has confirmed that he has launched his own record label called The Bureau, which will release his own projects that fall outside existing label relationships as well as music from other artists, including Jeremy Dubs and former Captain Beefheart sideman Eric Drew Feldman.
The venture grew out of a website used by Black to sell merchandise and promote ad hoc projects, but turned into a label when the Pixies man decided to release an album of Harry Nilsson covers by the aforementioned Dubs, which comes out later this month.
Although he has a number of projects already on the go, Black is looking for other talent to work with via The Bureau. The Guardian quote him as saying: “We’re really open to hearing demos from bands or performers, wherever they are and whoever they are … I’m scouring the landscape, just like Columbia and Sony”.
