Final CMU:DIY x Urban Development event for 2015 tomorrow
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 8 December 2015
The next CMU:DIY x Urban Development Industry Takeover Seminar – the final one of the year – takes place at the Red Bull Studios in London tomorrow, once again providing insights and inspiration for future music talent.
This one looks at record deals, and the role record companies have in artist careers, especially for new talent. It will consider the pros and cons of signing a traditional label deal – rather than going a DIY or label services route – and also the differences between working with major and indie record companies. It will also explain how record deals work, and the highs and lows of the artist/label relationship.
CMU MD and Business Editor Chris Cooke will lead the proceedings, while Alex Boateng from Island Records, Craig Evans from Believe Digital, lawyer Richard Day, manager Riki Bleu and artist Terri Walker will all join the debate.
The session takes place from 6.30pm on Wednesday 9 Dec (note: this event had previously been listed as 10 Dec in some places), and you can sign up via Urban Development.
