Some final names have been added to the previously reported conversations programme at The Great Escape, which kicks off in Brighton tomorrow.

The conversations get underway in Dukes @ Komedia 2 at 1.45pm with a session marking the fiftieth anniversary of pirate radio in the UK. The focus will be on the legendary pirates of the 1980s and 1990s which resulted in some of the leading radio stations – and other music services – of today. How did the media and music industries treat the pirates back then, and how did that relationship change over the years?

Kiss founder Gordon Mac will chat to CMU Editor Andy Malt about his various ventures over the years, including his latest service Mi:Soul, after which former pirate radio participants Daniel Nathan, now Chairman of Brighton’s Juice 107.2 and one of the people behind totallyradio.com, and Stephen Taverner, now with East City Management but once involved in Xfm forerunned Q102, will join the conversation.

On Friday, two conversations will focus on the world of artist management. First at 12pm in Dukes 2, Generator bring together some of the best young managers in the UK right now – who will be discussing the challenges of working with new artists in 2014, and alternative approaches for breaking artists and building long-term careers. Jen Long leads the conversation with Ellie Giles of Jigsaw Management, Colin Roberts of Big Life, Ryan Lofthouse of Closer Artists and Russ Tannen of Deadly Management.

Then at 3.30pm in the magnificent Brighton Council Chambers, the Music Managers Forum presents The Great Management Conversation. Four leading artist managers from across the generations will discuss the highs and lows, challenges and thrills of being a manager, and how the rise of the web and big shifts in the record industry have impacted on the profession. Conversing will be Paul Crockford, Brian Message, Dumi Oburota and Stars Redmond. Dan Cairns will lead the conversation.

Friday at TGE will wrap up with Chlöe Howl in conversation with Rinse FM’s Carly Wilford, presented by PRS For Music. While the conversations programme is only open to TGE delegates, a small number of seats have been set aside for festival-goers in this one – fans can enter a competition to win tickets here.

Full details of the Great Escape conversations programme are here, plus before it all gets going why not head to Dukes 2 tomorrow at 12.30pm, where Andrea Leonelli will be doing a live record of his Digital Music Trends podcast, with Cliff Fluet, Chris Carey, Fred Bolza and Alison Lamb amongst his guests.
