Festival Line-Up Update: Convergence, Belsonic, Dimensions and more

Convergence

First thing to mention, since it begins imminently – well, next week – is Convergence, a series of East London-wide live shows, talks and events linked by a single theme; the ‘Convergence’ (get it?) between technology and art.

Curated by Ether creator and ex-Meltdown producer Glenn Max, the festival will lend its banner to Bleep’s tenth birthday party at the Barbican on 25 Apr, this featuring Fuck Buttons and Mount Kimbie; and also this year’s Denovali Swingfest, whose line-up includes Anna Von Hausswolff, The Haxan Cloak, Ulrich Schnauss and Hidden Orchestra.

Jacques Greene’s hardware-heavy appearance at St John’s Church, Hackney, on 24 Apr, is also classified as a facet of the Convergence billing, as are Noise Of Art’s previously reported Booka Shade showcase celebrating 100 years of electronica and a screening of sci-fi film ‘Silent Running’ with a live-score by 65daysofstatic.

On the non-live technical side, Convergence will host experimental artist Charlie Kerr aka Loudeswarning’s interactive seminar on ‘100 Years Of Hacking’, a ‘MixCloud curates’ programme of tech, media, marketing and music-based talks led by speakers like The Guardian’s Caspar Llewellyn Smith and Vice’s Matt Elek, and ‘onedotzero_ sound + vision’, a show-and-tell type panel event, MC’d by Coldcut’s Matt Black, Lemon Jelly’s Fred Deakin, and onedotzero’s Shane Walter, and dedicated to the intersection between the visual and sonic arts.

So, that’s all quite a lot to take in. Look at a nice, simple(r) lay-out of the programme via the Convergence site, and in that same simplistic spirit, check the latest additions to line-ups at existing festival bills here:
