Etta James battling Alzheimer’s
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 2 February 2010
Singer Etta James was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease just over a year ago, her son Donto has revealed. He also told CNN that his mother was recently treated for dependency on painkillers and other over-the-counter medicine, and that she suffers from speaking difficulties and has contracted MRSA during treatment for other ailments.
However, he remains confident that the 72 year old singer will be back on stage performing again in the future, though possibly only if new doctors can be found. Donto, who also plays in his mother’s band, said: “I am going to end up losing my mother if it keeps going on like this. There has to be another doctor out there who can tell me what is going on with my mother. I want my mother back on stage again. I know it can happen”.
