Having broken things off with one-time label Matador (amicably, though), Brighton trio Esben & The Witch are now looking to start making an LP to follow ‘Wash The Sins Not Only The Face’, which came out at the start of 2013.

What’s more, the band are looking to do it – collaborate, that is – with producer Steve Albini at his Chicago studio, launching a PledgeMusic drive earlier this week to make that trip happen, and to found a label all of their own.

They write: “With Steve’s help, we will capture the live essence of the music we have written, push ourselves as far as possible and make the music as powerful as it can be. The songs are written and ready, the recording dates booked in, and we are asking for your help to support this adventure”.

The album, the group’s third, is chalked up to come out in the autumn. The things on offer in return for pledges include personalised merch and rarities, the chance to book the band for a private show, EATW bassist Rachel’s guitar, and a new, unreleased EP titled ‘And New Life Blossoms From The Ruins’, signed by the band, and featuring sleeve art by the band’s Rachel Davies.
