ERA to launch manifesto talking up role of retailers and digital services in entertainment industries
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 19 February 2015
The Entertainment Retailers Association has announced that it will unveil its first manifesto at an event in central London next week, outlining a five point plan to stimulate growth in the music, video and games industries.
The report will highlight the role retailers and digital services have had on these sectors in the last decade, from bringing streaming to the mainstream to the resurgence of vinyl, and the benefits increased investment could have for further growth and innovation.
ERA Chief Exec Kim Bayley says: “Retailers and digital services have transformed the entertainment industry over the past decade to the benefit of both consumers and the music, video and games industries, but their job is not yet complete. We see the launch of the Manifesto as a vital next step in the growth of the entertainment market”.
Representatives of Amazon, Spotify, Tesco, HMV and indie record store Banquet Records will speak at the event, as will Brian Message and Martin Mills.
ERA Chairman Raoul Chatterjee comments: “We are particularly delighted that two of the most progressive voices in the entertainment industry should be joining us for the launch of the ERA Manifesto. It is vital that amid the structural change taking place in the entertainment business, forward-looking companies come together and drive a progressive agenda”.
But the main draw, I’m sure he meant to say, will be CMU Business Editor Chris Cooke, who will moderate a panel as part of the event, which takes place on 24 Feb, aka next Tuesday.
