Earache Records

Thirteen mini-tracks by the likes of Napalm Death, Wormrot, Brutal Truth, Morbid Angel and Insect Warfare will be released on a five-inch vinyl LP that’s apparently the world’s shortest, lasting a mere 82.8s in total.

Available on Record Store Day (20 Apr), it’ll feature, amongst other things, Napalm Death’s ‘You Suffer’ – the Guinness Book Of Records-deemed ‘world’s shortest track’ – which clocks at 1.9s, and a 3.5s finale (the longest track) called ‘Street Sweeper’ by Insect Warfare.

Talking about the project, Insect Warfare’s Beau Beasley said: “I like the primal aspect of these songs. Anything that really needs to be said can really be expressed very simply. Think of the power of the word ‘NO’. When you hear it yelled you immediately know its intent. Imagine that power with the sound of a blast beat behind it”.

While on Napalm Death’s ‘You Suffer’ he added: “The first time I heard ‘You Suffer’ was an experience like this: it was like the sound of two pieces of large, rusted metal colliding. Quick, scathing, and confusing. A car crash. Not literally, but might as well have been”.
