Dylan pulls back catalogue from streaming sites
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 18 August 2009
Bob Dylan has pulled his back catalogue from streaming sites as the singer’s representatives question licensing agreements. An instruction to pull the music was issued by Dylan’s people via Sony Music to streaming sites, including We7 and Spotify, asking them to prove that they have the rights to stream it.
We7’s digital music SVP Clive Gardiner told Music Ally: “We took [Dylan’s music] off the site a few days ago. Spotify would have had the same instruction. But it may be a short listing and it may come back again. There are some artists that will take umbrage at this from time to time. We expect this sort of thing, especially with streaming, and it not being fully understood where it sits yet”.
