Download to announce secret bands
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 2 June 2009
Organisers of the Download Festival will announce the two ‘secret’ acts on this year’s bill this week, which will ruin the secret a little, but there you go.
Something of a tradition at the festival, past ‘secret’ acts have included Metallica, who surprised fans by playing an acoustic set at the very first Download in 2003. It seems the promoters have decided to reveal this year’s ‘secret’ bands ahead of the event in a bid to manage expectations – basically this year’s secret additions are not as exciting as everyone thinks they’re going to be.
Festival Director Andy Copping said via Twitter: “We’re revealing the ‘secret’ bands so that people don’t get bent out of shape when they discover it’s not AC/DC or Led Zeppelin”.
