DJ Derek celebrating career finale via NYE set
By Aly Barchi | Published on Thursday 11 July 2013
Bristolian reggae DJ Derek Morris is retiring, he says, after a final set on New Year’s Eve. Morris, who’s 71, will celebrate the end of a nearly 40 year career with a last appearance at London’s Notting Hill Arts Club, where he has a regular residency.
Spilling the beans via We Love Cool Beans, he says: “I will be 72 the fortnight before I do my last ever gig, and while I’m reasonably healthy it’ll be nice to do some travelling without carting my gear around!”
The still-active DJ headlines at the Sheffield-based Quality Control on 12 Jul, and again at Notting Hill Arts Club the next night.
