Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead hits midweek top ten
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 10 April 2013
‘Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead’ by the cast of the 1939 film ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ is currently at number ten in the UK Singles Chart, the Official Charts Company has announced in its midweek update.
As previously reported, the 56 second recording began rising up the chart on Monday following the announcement of the death of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, in part motivated by a Facebook campaign originally set up sometime before the late Tory leader’s passing. Currently the track is at number two in the iTunes chart and number one in the Amazon MP3 chart.
As it stands at the moment, Duke Dumont feat A*M*E is on track to hold the number one position for the second week, though there is still a long way to go before the midnight on Saturday cut off for Sunday’s chart.
The top five as it currently stands:
1. Duke Dumont feat A*M*E – Need U (100%)
2. Pink feat Nate Ruess – Just Give Me A Reason
3. Bastille – Pompeii
4. Nelly – Hey Porsche
5. Justin Timberlake – Mirrors
