Details announced for this year’s Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 15 January 2014
New bands who fancy playing one of the main stages at Glastonbury this year, take note, entries for the festival’s customary Emerging Talent Competition will be accepted during just one week this year, 20-27 Jan.
It’s free for bands to put themselves forward, contenders will need to supply a link to one track on SoundCloud and a video of themselves performing live (though that can be super lo-fi if necessary, bedroom performances are acceptable). A team of music writers will help select a longlist, before Team Glasto select a shortlist to take part in a live final in April.
Emily Eavis told CMU: “We get very excited about new music, and the Emerging Talent Competition is just a brilliant way for us to discover fresh talent. Our stage bookers come down to the live finals, and dozens of the acts who’ve entered over the years have been given a slot at the festival. We can’t wait to see what this year’s competition brings!”
Bands will be able to put themselves forward via the Glastonbury website next week.
