Dave Grohl still thinking hard about Foo Fighters album
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 25 June 2013
Those Foo Fighters are still in the ‘vague ideas’ stage of working on their next album, the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Wasting Light’, drummer Taylor Hawkins has told Billboard. This means very little has changed since Dave Grohl spoke about it in March. Although Grohl is possibly thinking a little harder now.
Hawkins said: “We’re getting started. We’re getting our ideas together. Dave has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he’s got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually – [nothing] that I can speak of at this moment, but it’s gonna be great. It’s gonna be cool”.
I’m not sure they’re actually far enough into the process for him to say with such certainly whether or not it will be “great” or “cool”. Still, Hawkins reckons there’s plenty more to be done within the Foo Fighters house.
He continued: “You always want every [album] to be the best one you’ve ever done, and you always think you haven’t done your best one [yet]. Although some people may feel we have, I still think we haven’t written our ‘Hotel California’ or our ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ or whatever. You should always be a little scared… Every time you start a record, you have to be, like, ready to fucking kill yourself or it’s not gonna be any good”.
