Conrad Murray conviction upheld by appeal court

An appeals court in California has upheld the criminal conviction of Conrad Murray, the doctor jailed for causing the death of Michael Jackson through negligent treatment.
Murray’s lawyers argued that the judge who oversaw the doc’s criminal trial, Michael Pastor, made various errors, including his refusal to allow Team Murray to present evidence on Jackson’s financial situation and the other doctors who allegedly provided the king of pop with questionable treatment.
But the appeal judges were not impressed with those arguments, ruling that the defendant’s “callous disregard for Mr Jackson’s health and safety was shown throughout the trial from the manner in which he administered a number of dangerous drugs to Mr Jackson without the appropriate medical equipment, precautions or personnel in place, and to the manner in which he left Mr Jackson unattended”.
The appeals court said that it found no errors in Pastor’s decision making, including allowing the trial to be screened on TV, and therefore Murray’s conviction must stand. As previously reported, the doctor was actually let out of jail last year after serving about half of his four year sentence.
