Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Ash Collins has joined Sony Music UK’s RCA publicity team as Senior Publicist. Collins has previously worked for Universal, Toast and 9PR. He was also apparently “integral to the launch of Jake Bugg”, which seems like a weirdly insulting thing to say in a press release.

• Steve Aoki has made a “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT”; he is no longer going to throw cake at people at “most festivals”. Instead he is going to be “keeping it exclusive for the die hard fans”. For those die hard fans, he has also written a new track called ‘Cake Face’. So that’s something.

• Having got shot of that Scott Walker bloke, Sunn o))) have announced that they will be working on a new album all of their own “across the span of [2]015”.

• Snoop Dogg (that’s Dogg, not Lion) will release a new album, titled ‘Bush’, in March. It was entirely produced by Pharrell Williams, who says “Snoop’s album is better than mine”. Not sure that’s setting the bar particularly high though.

• The UK release of Charli XCX’s new album, ‘Sucker’, has apparently been delayed again. It’ll now be out on 16 Feb. The move is seemingly to allow for the record to be pre-empted by a new version of ‘Doing It’ with added Rita Ora vocals, which is released as a single on 8 Feb. Listen here.

• Ghostpoet is very good, isn’t he? I bet you’d like to hear another album of his work, wouldn’t you? Maybe recorded with a live band. Yeah? Well, ‘Shedding Skin’ will be out on 2 Mar. Here’s a track from it, ‘Off Peak Dreams’.

Approved song-singing man Alex Burey has shared the lead single from his forthcoming debut EP, ‘Inside World’. It’s called ‘The Intimidator’ and you can listen to it here. Burey will also be playing live at St Pancras Old Church on 21 Jan, which you should probably make a note of somewhere.

• Worriedaboutsatan will return with a new album, ‘Even Temper’, on 16 Mar. It’s their first album since 2009, the duo having been concentrating on their Ghosting Season alter-ego of late.

• Girl Band have been forced to cancel their upcoming New York shows due to issues securing US visas. They are “properly bummed out about this”. As should everyone in New York be.

• Hey, you remember when we said it seemed like a pretty safe bet that rumours of an Iggy Azalea collaboration appearing on the new Shakira album were true? Apparently it was not.

• Also, yesterday we mentioned rumours that Katy Perry is working on a “a visual or a lyric related jab” at Taylor Swift as part of her Superbowl performance next month. Well the rumour now is that it’ll be a whole song called ‘She’s So Creepy’. Yay rumours!
