Neil Fox

Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Neil Fox’s trial on accusations of various sexual offences has concluded. The verdict will be announced at 4pm on 14 Dec.

• !K7 has announced a deal with Berlin-based Mobilee Records which will see the former provide distribution, marketing and neighbouring rights services to the latter. “Unexpected”, said Mobilee co-founder Anja Schneider. About the future projects she hopes to run with !K7. Not the deal. Presumably she expected that.

• Digital distribution firm Tunecore has had one of those oh-so-fashionable-of-late database hacks. In an email to users on Friday night, CEO Scott Ackerman said customer names and information could have been taken, and that all users should change their passwords ASAP. Passwords were encrypted in the system, Ackerman said, but “a determined hacker” may be able to crack the encryption anyway given time.

• India-based streaming firm Saavn has hired former PepsiCo senior marketing consultant Gaurav Wadhwa and given him a brief to launch original programming on the music service, and to expand its output into sports and comedy. I find pretending Chris Martin said something very sweary gets a few laughs.

• More Adele? Yeah. She’s sold lots more albums, and broke some new records. You know, same old same old. Meanwhile Amazon Prime Music, which has no Adele tunes, suggests to those who search for the singer’s new LP that they might like to listen to Duffy. Which takes you back, doesn’t it?

• You’ve probably heard talk of this new Peaches video. It’s for a track called ‘Rub’ and your employer might frown upon you watching it at your desk.

• How much do you want to see the inside of Björk’s mouth?

• Andrew Weatherall will release his first solo album since 2009 on 26 Feb next year. It’s called ‘Convenanza’. Here’s the first track from it, ‘The Confidence Man’.

• Steve Aoki will perform two UK shows in February. He’ll play Brixton Academy on 19 Feb and Mountford Hall in Liverpool on 20 Feb.

• NME Award nominations? Surely not! Like, really? NME Award nominations? That can’t possibly be true! Oh, NME Award nominations you say? Yeah, whatever. Bloody NME Award nominations.
