THEESatisfaction

Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Rising grime stars Novelist (who makes beats) and Mumdance (who raps, and also makes beats) of collaborative ‘Take Time’ fame will, on 20 Jan 2015, release an EP, titled ‘1 Sec’, via XL Recordings. From it, this is ‘Shook’.

• Avant-groovin R&B types THEESatisfaction have detailed their new LP, ‘EarthEE’, which is being released on 23 Feb. Its lead single, one of thirteen tracks in all, features THEESatisfaction BFFs Shabazz Palaces. Stream that here.

• Normal popstar Meghan Trainor did a cover of Justin Bieber’s Xmas hit ‘Mistletoe’, with the approval of the track’s ‘original artist’ and all, on German TV the other day. As you do. Pucker up and listen to it now on YouTube.

• So supernatural pop force St Vincent released, as did many artists, a special single for retail-a-thon Black Friday. Listen to the unheard-until-now ‘Pieta’ and ‘Sparrow’ via the relevant links.

• Label, radio station and state of mind Rinse, which has spent all year celebrating its twentieth birthday, is taking over Tate Britain in London this Friday (5 Dec), for a ‘Late Tate’ showcase featuring Sophie and Koreless playing live, and also production masterclasses from Krust, MJ Cole and Mumdance. And some fashion and art-y installations, too. It’s free entry, and kicks off at 6. Details here.

• Bring Me The Horizon are playing a headline show at Wembley Arena on Friday. Which is nice. But before that, they’ll be limbering up with a show at The Underworld in Camden on Wednesday. I think all the tickets are gone, soz.

• Atomic Kitten have announced a fifteenth anniversary tour. Not quite as optimistic as S Club 7, they’ve booked in to Academy and similarly sized venues across the UK next June. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9am.

• Steve Aoki will be throwing some cake around at the Brixton Academy on 7 Feb next year, at a show presented by Cream. Tickets go on sale on Friday morning. Info here.

• TV On The Radio have announced that they will play a run of five UK dates in February, which is very good of them. Tickets are on sale now here. Oh and look, here’s the video for new single ‘Happy Idiot’.

• Last Friday, Joanna Gruesome won the Mercury-like Welsh Music Prize for their debut album, ‘Weird Sister’. “Their record resonated with the judges who were universal in their praise. I hope that many new people now seek them out and buy a copy”, said award co-organiser John Rostron. You heard the man.
