Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Jay-Z is on the verge of buying US hip hop radio station Hot 97, says AllHipHop.com. This, it is claimed, is the reason for an on air rant by DJ Funkmaster Flex last week.

• Metallica are “rockin along”, which I believe is code for ‘recording a new album’. That is certainly what this post on Instagram suggests.

• And this Instagram post from Brent Hinds would suggest that Mastodon are also working on new music.

• Clearly not up on current recording announcement trends, Geri Halliwell has revealed that she is in the studio the old fashioned way: on Twitter.

• Madeon will release his debut album, ‘Adventure’, on 30 Mar via Sony/Columbia. So that’s the news there. Here’s the video for his latest single, ‘You’re On’.

CMU approvee Denai Moore will release her debut album, ‘Elsewhere’, through Because Music on 6 Apr. She’ll be off on a brief UK tour around the same time to celebrate. Excellent. Here’s the album’s title track.

• Oh, well Caribou has released a live album on Bandcamp. I say album, it’s only got three tracks on it. It was recorded in 2011 with his Caribou Vibration Ensemble band. Blah blah blah. Bandcamp link.

• Zun Zun Egui are about to release their second album through Bella Union. You can listen to the whole flippin thing and read a track-by-track breakdown of it from the band on The Quietus, here.

• The two surviving members of TLC, ‘T-Boz and Chilli, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to record their “LAST AND FINAL” album. They apparently need $150,000. You can bung them a few dollars here.

• HTRK have released an EP featuring three tracks originally written during sessions for their 2011 album ‘Work (Work Work)’, including two with performances by the band’s late bassist Sean Stewart. Its 350 vinyl-only copies have already sold out, but it’s still worth mentioning because you can listen to its title track, ‘Body Lotion’, here. And you should.

• The line-up of the next Nordic showcase night Ja Ja Ja will by Jennie Abrahamson, Psyence Fiction and Mont Oliver. Call me a liar if you want, but you’ll look pretty silly come 19 Feb when those three acts take to the stage at The Lexington in London.

• Paloma Faith is the latest artist to be added to the list of performers who will warble in forests around the UK this summer, as part of the Forestry Commission’s Forest Live programme. Tickets will go on sale on Friday. Details here.
