Happyness

Other notable announcements and developments today…

• Moshi Moshi has this morning announced its latest signing as Happyness. The band have also signed deals with Bar None Records in the US and Magniph Records in Japan. They’ll play Birthdays in Dalston on 4 Feb as part of the NME Awards Shows and, I don’t know why, but they’ve covered a Norah Jones song.

• Mastodon’s Brent Hinds is playing ‘Jackass’ star Ryan Dunn in a film directed by Bam Margera. Apparently this is old news, but no one seems to have noticed until Loudwire watched an interview from last August at the weekend.

• Carly Rae Jepsen has been recording with songwriters Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid. Here’s a picture of them together in a studio.

• Brotherly duo Champs have announced that they will release a new album, titled ‘Vamala’, on 24 Feb through Play It Again Sam. Here’s the first single, ‘Desire’.

• ‘Desolation Sounds’ is the name of the new Gallows album. It’ll be released on 13 Apr through Play It Again Sam/Venn, and here is its first single, ‘Bonfire Season’.

• We mentioned the other day that Gruff Rhys and The Earth had recorded a song for Valentine’s Day. And here it is.

• CMU approved producer Ryuei Kotoge has released a new EP called ‘Parallel’. You can listen to it on Bandcamp.

• Florrie will release her new single, ‘Too Young To Remember’, on 8 Mar. She’ll also play a show at The Borderline in London on 29 Jan. And now I suppose you expect me to link to the video for the single? Well, you expect correctly.
