CMU’s music rights masterclass incoming

A small number of tickets are still available for the next CMU Insights masterclass, which will review and explain in a concise and user-friendly manner all the key developments in music rights in the last twelve months.
That includes the ‘Happy Birthday’ and ‘Blurred Lines’ cases, the big debate around ‘safe harbours’, developments in the US around mechanicals on streams and the 1972 issue, discussions in Europe on performer rights and ‘making available’, plus copyright exceptions in the UK, and even last week’s report on copyright damages in America.
The session will be led by CMU’s Chris Cooke, who says: “Whether you make, market, distribute, sell or utilise music, then you are in the copyright game, and that means being up to speed on the very latest developments in music rights gives you and your business an edge. We all know copyright can be a dry topic, but there have been some dramatic developments in the last year, and we plan to present those in an entertaining way”.
The masterclass runs from 2-5.30pm at the London HQ of Lewis Silkin on Wednesday 10 Feb. Tickets are just £99 and can be bought here.
