Tickets have gone on sale for the final CMU Insights training session of 2018, a masterclass looking back at the last twelve months in music copyright. This half-day course allows music industry professionals to get fully up to speed on all the key developments and debates that have occurred in the music rights sector in 2018.

The masterclass is delivered by CMU Managing Director Chris Cooke, who says: “It has been an eventful year in music rights, with major legislative reform in both Europe and the US, plus ongoing debates around termination rights, the evolution of digital and collective licensing, and the impact of the ‘Blurred Lines’ judgement on plagiarism cases”.

“It can be tricky to keep up with all those stories”, Cooke goes on, “which is the purpose of this masterclass. In just a few hours I’ll tell you everything you need to know, explaining the legal concepts and precedents, and summarising the ongoing debates. For anyone creating, administering, managing or monetising music rights, it’s a simple way to stay fully informed”.

The ‘Key Developments In Music Rights’ masterclass will be hosted by Lewis Silkin at its London HQ on Chancery Lane. It takes place on Wednesday 12 Dec from 2.00-5.30pm, and saver rate tickets are currently available for £79.99 including VAT and booking fees. Click here for more information.

A number of training sessions for the first quarter of 2019 have also been put on sale.

This includes the latest edition of the very popular ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ masterclass, based on the major research project CMU Insights has undertaken on behalf of the Music Managers Forum in recent years. It explains how streaming services are licensed, why the system is quite so complicated, and how everyone gets paid. Click here for more information.

Two more evening seminar programmes – respectively covering music rights and music marketing – are also now on sale, these taking place on Monday evenings in February and March, again at the London HQ of Lewis Silkin. Places on individual seminars are £49.99, while you can book into all the music rights sessions or all the music marketing sessions for £125.
