CMU Insights announces masterclass for brands, as music rights event approaches
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 8 February 2016
The team at CMU Insights have just announced another masterclass ahead of this week’s music rights event.
On Monday 18 Apr, CMU’s Chris Cooke will host a session aimed at brands working in the music space. It will explain why artists have several different business partners, and who controls what, and how that will impact on how a brand’s music campaign is organised and managed.
The event will also provide a concise and user-friendly guide to music rights, and will explain why understanding the difference between recording and song rights, and reproduction and performing rights, is important to ensure brands don’t have any nasty surprises when they start working with music. Full details of the event are online here.
Meanwhile, this Wednesday the London HQ of Lewis Silkin will host the CMU Insights masterclass ‘Key Developments In Music Rights’, bringing attendees fully up to speed on all the latest developments and controversies in music copyright, including safe harbours, making available, private copy, 1972 and Spotify’s legal battle over mechanical rights in the US
