And Finally Beef Of The Week

CMU Beef Of The Week #25: Team Bieber vs The rumour mill

By | Published on Saturday 3 July 2010

Justin Bieber was forced to deny a number of rumours this week, such as that he had died (he had a look, he’s hadn’t) and that he had joined a religious cult (though he does admit to being a Christian). By far the most widely reported, however, was the rumour that his mum, Pattie Mallette, had been offered $50,000 to pose topless in Playboy.

Mallette, who is also Bieber’s manager, has seen her own fame rise with that of her son, partly due to her good looks and the fact that she’s not your stay-in-the-background sort of mother/manager.

It’s this, presumably, which led to a claim by RadarOnline that she had been been approached to bare all (well, some – the site said that full nudity was not a requirement of the deal). It was also noted that no response had, at that point, been made by Mallette or Team Bieber, the implication being that she was considering it.

However, an official statement denying that any such offer had been put on the table was quickly issued once the story began to spread. The statement read thus: “The rumours that Pattie Mallette is in talks with Playboy magazine to appear in an upcoming issue are completely false. She has never been approached by Playboy magazine nor has she approached Playboy. This story is utterly erroneous, without a shred of truth. Consider this denial the final word on the matter”.

So, that’s that then. Guess I’d better stop writing now, as the final word has been issued. If no one’s going to say any more, well, I guess I’ll just pack up and… wait… what’s that Justin? You’re “wierded out”? What does that even mean?

Yep, following the firm and final statement from his management, Justin later tweeted: “My mum is a moral woman, let’s just leave that one for what it is, because that rumour just grossed and wierded me out”.

I wouldn’t worry about it, if I were you Justin. I hear most people just read Playboy for the articles and completely ignore the pictures.
