Cibo Matto split
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 13 December 2017
Cibo Matto have announced that they are splitting up again, with the group’s two members Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori returning to their solo projects.
The duo reformed in 2011, having originally split in 2002, and released an album, ‘Hotel Valentine’, in 2014. Despite a flurry of activity around the world around the release of that album, they have done little together since 2015.
Confirming that their creative relationship has again halted, they said in a statement: “We’d like to announce that Cibo Matto is moving to a new phase. Miho and Yuka will be doing their solo works and ‘Hotel Valentine’ will be our last album. We’d like to thank you so much for your love and support. Hopefully you understand that this is a necessary and positive change for us”.
Their third long player, ‘Hotel Valentine’, came fifteen years after their second, ‘Stereo Type A’. We made them one of our artists of the year that year, because it’s a great album. Go and listen to it now.
