Calvin Harris breaks UK chart record
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 23 April 2013
Calvin Harris has broken the UK chart record for the most top ten singles released from one album. So far Harris has seen eight tracks from his third album ‘Eighteen Months’ reach the top ten, the latest being ‘I Need Your Love’, featuring vocals from Ellie Goulding, which entered the chart at number seven on Sunday.
The previous holder of this particular chart record was Michael Jackson, who released seven top ten singles from his 1991 album ‘Dangerous’.
Official Charts Company MD Martin Talbot told CMU: “Many artists only achieve a handful of hits in their entire careers, so for any act to secure three or four from one album is an excellent achievement. In turn, eight top tens from one album is not just impressive, it is absolutely remarkable. And, of course, record breaking. Congratulations to Calvin Harris, THE modern day hit-maker”.
