Bucks signs Doherty and Wave Machines
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 16 February 2011
Independent music publisher Bucks Music has confirmed it has recently signed Babyshambler Pete Doherty and Liverpudlian alt rock four-piece Wave Machines to publishing deals. Both deals have been struck through joint ventures. The worldwide Doherty deal is via a joint venture with Normal Music, while the Wave Machines signing was achieved through a collaboration with Mensch Music, the company of former Atlantic Records A&R man Steve Sasse.
Commenting on the unusual nature of both these deals, Bucks MD Simon Platz told Music Week: “These agreements mean that composers and bands have the best of both worlds – with the expertise of the signing company and Buck’s sync, creative, royalty and copyright infrastructure”.
