Bowie to open pie & mash shop in Tokyo
By Andy Malt | Published on Friday 8 March 2013
It’s always good for artists to have something to fall back on if the whole music thing doesn’t work out, which must be why David Bowie is having a crack at running a café.
To mark the release of his new album ‘The Next Day’, Bowie is opening a new emporium tomorrow under the name the David Bowie Café in Tokyo’s Sony Building – taking over its Cardinal bar. The temporary operation will play Bowie’s own music exclusively on the stereo, and serve up culinary treats from the singer’s home town of London.
The only thing on the menu seems to be shepherd’s pie with a mashed potato, chilli and cheese topping accompanied by a pint of Guinness on the side, but that would do me. There’ll also be a selection of cocktails named after Bowie hits for afters.
