Notting Hill Carnival

Boiler Room has announced that it will be broadcasting live from this year’s Notting Hill Carnival, starting at midday on the Sunday and running through to 7pm on the Monday it’ll feature 42 hours worth of content.

“Notting Hill Carnival is probably the biggest and best celebration of contemporary black music in the world and is vastly under recognised”, says Boiler Room CEO Blaise Bellville. “It is extraordinary to us that other much smaller events like Glastonbury are given weekend long live coverage from major broadcasters and media. Meanwhile, Notting Hill Carnival is 50 years into it’s history and Boiler Room will be the first broadcaster to ever give it support and coverage at the scale that we are”.

He continued: “People in America hear about Wireless Festival as our best black music festival, we want to change that. Notting Hill Carnival should be celebrated as one the most important contemporary black music events in the world, it should be shouted about with pride as a sign of UK music and cultural diversity, of police behaviour, so many things that make this a vastly under appreciated event”.

As the broadcast is pumped out into the world, it will showcase soundsystems including Rampage, Deviation, Aba Shanti-I, Channel One, Nasty Love, Saxon Sound, King Tubbys, Gladdys Wax and Disya Jeneration.

Tune in to the broadcast here.
