Tesco-owned streaming music bonanza Blinkbox Music, which would be written all lower-case if it wasn’t for the CMU style guide disallowing such things, has been confirmed as headline sponsor for AEG Live’s three big pop parties, which go under the umbrella heading UK Live.

As previously reported, AEG is expanding what began as North East Live last summer to a three dater, which will take in Sunderland (North East Live), Ipswich (East Coast Live) and Weston-super-Mare (South West Live).

Though as of last week we ought to have inserted a ‘blinkbox music’ in before each of those show names. But breaking CMU style guide rules just once is a brave move, three times could have resulted in some serious calamities occurring at the hands of the style guide gods.

Jessie J is set to head up all three of the popfests, which take place on 22 Jun, 28 Jun and 29 Jun respectively, and which will also be filmed for airing on 4Music.

Confirming the brand tie up, Blinkbox Music marketing man Iain Sawbridge told CMU: “Here at Blinkbox Music we love our pop music and association with these high profile events offers us a great opportunity to introduce our fantastic service to a key section of our target audience”.

Meanwhile AEG’s Sam Bush added: “We are delighted to have Blinkbox Music on board for UK Live. They are the perfect partner for these great music events and will add a formidable digital platform for fans”.

They actually said ‘Blinkbox Music’ without the capital letters. The style guide gods were not impressed.
