Big Boi signs to Def Jam
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 22 March 2010
Universal’s Def Jam have signed up OutKast’s Big Boi, and will release his new solo album ‘Sir Luscious Left Foot’, which is set to be unleashed on the world in May. The OutKaster had previously announced his intent to leave his current label, Sony’s Jive/La Face, and to move to the legendary hip hop label last year, seemingly so he could again work with LA Reid, who headed La Face when OutKast first signed to the label, but who has been with the Universal division since 2004.
Despite that intent being known, it took time for the paperwork to be done to release Big Boi from his Sony contract. But last week he tweeted: “THE INK IS ON THE PAPER!!! ‘BREAKING NEWS!!!!’ It’s OFFICIAL! BIG BOI signs SOLO album DEAL with DEF JAM!!! More details to come…”
