Bez released from prison

Bez has been released from prison early, after serving two weeks of a one month sentence.

As previously reported, the jail sentence related to the assault conviction dished out earlier this month after an altercation between him and the mother of his two year old son back in May. He would have got away with community service and a fine, but when magistrate Marie Cash passed her initial sentence Bez, real name Mark Berry, said he wouldn’t do it, telling her: “I’m not doing it. Bothered? I’m going to appeal and take this to a real court”.

Unfortunately for Bez, it turned out that he was actually in a real court, and was sent straight to prison. Still, it got him out of doing the community service.

Leaving HMP Strangeways in Manchester yesterday, Bez was asked if he was glad to be out. He responded with what I believe could be called an air of irritable sarcasm: “No, I wish I was still in there”.
