End-of-the-pier comedian Bernie Clifton was left “fuming and furious” after the tracklist printed on the back of his new CD was switched for that of death metal band Abhorrent Decimation.

Clifton released an album of covers titled ‘The Impossible Dream’ last week, but has forced to recall the CDs after the tracklist included was for the death metal band’s latest release ‘Miasmic Mutation’. Clifton had not, it turned out, recorded songs with titles like ‘Eternal Repulsion’ and ‘For the Desperately Lost’.

“I’m fuming and furious”, Clifton told BBC News. Though he did see the funny side, adding: “We could go on the road, me and the lads. We could do ‘To Dream The Impossible Miasmic Mutation'”.

No, not a great joke, but who needs to come up with great jokes when this news story already exists? Also, Abhorrent Decimation frontman Ashley Scott is up for the idea, saying: “I definitely want to talk to Bernie about working together on something… it would be amazing”.

Scott also speculated that the mix up was due to both releases having similar catalogue numbers – CDB003 and CB003, if you’re interested.

Meanwhile, because I’m sure you’re all wondering, Clifton was apparently inspired to record his album after a positive reaction to his audition on ‘The Voice’, itself an error after he tripped and fell into a taxi meant for someone else. Sightings of a wannabe popstar riding an ostrich have since been reported at seaside towns around the country.
