Believe Digital open London office
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 8 June 2010
Digital distributors Believe Digital have announced the launch of a UK office, which will be headed up by artist manager Stephen King, who has worked with the likes of The Libertines, The Beta Band, The Hives, The Charlatans, The Lighthouse Family and at least one band without ‘the’ in its name. Believe already has offices in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal and the US. The new London offices will have sales, marketing and A&R staff.
Confirming his new role, King told CMU: “I have spent most of my career working within the music business and it has been obvious to everyone for some time that the landscape within this industry is changing dramatically. There are huge opportunities now for labels and artists to become empowered and to build stable and rewarding relationships with both online retailers and fans. Believe Digital really understands and wants to drive the new marketplace and I’m really excited about helping establish the company as a market leader in the UK”.
Believe founder Denis Ladegaillerie added: “Stephen comes to Believe Digital with over three decades of music industry experience and success and brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to our team. He has a thorough understanding of the workings of the modern music industry and the challenges it faces. The UK is a hugely important market for Believe Digital and Stephen’s energy and vision makes him the ideal person to lead our new office here”.
