Bauer Radio is revamping the evening show on its network of local stations.

Although fifteen of the firm’s local outposts already carry an In:Demand-branded new(ish) music show each evening, there are currently two versions, one for Scotland and one for England. But from 17 Feb all those local stations, plus national digital network The Hits Radio, will carry one In:Demand programme. I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure that brings to an end all hopes for an independent Scotland.

The revamped show will be hosted by new recruit Stu Tolan, who harks from Glasgow but has been most recently working in radio in New Zealand. Confirming his new booking, he told CMU: “I’m so excited to be returning home to the UK and taking control of In:Demand. I can’t wait to bring our listeners the biggest stars and play the hottest music on the planet!”

Meanwhile Owen Ryan, Group Content Director for Bauer’s local stations in Scotland and North England, added: “Stu’s appointment, with his fantastic experience and fresh outlook, is a brilliant addition to the In:Demand team and we welcome him back to the UK! This appointment further demonstrates Bauer Media’s passion to provide local audiences with fantastic music and entertainment”.

Current In:Demand hosts Romeo and Alex James (not that Alex James) will get weekend shows on Bauer local stations in Scotland and England respectively, plus that position all radio DJs really aspire to get: first call daytime cover presenter.
