Bauer Media launches national academy
By Aly Barchi | Published on Thursday 17 April 2014
Having piloted it first, since 2012, via the Scottish Media Academy, Bauer Media is now rolling out a national Bauer Academy, which will see the radio, TV and magazines firm move into the training space.
It will offer training courses and services to other media businesses and corporates looking to develop their media skills, and also various educational outreach initiatives, seeking to provide broadcasting and journalism coaching to people interested in the sector.
Staffed by a team of academics and business figures, both from within Bauer Media, and outsourced from universities and colleges, the Academy will run a variety of courses, tailored corporate programmes and executive retreats, while on the outreach side it will also invest in talented individuals, who’ll benefit via personalised learning packages and expert mentorship schemes. And the chance to talk with the programme’s ambassador, popstar Pixie Lott.
Graham Bryce, Group MD of Bauer Radio in Scotland and the north of England, says this of the above: “I am truly excited to launch the Bauer Academy. It is completely unique in its approach, combining academic excellence with practical vocational expertise, which will make it stand out from other media academies in the UK. The success and feedback from our launch in Scotland has been exceptional, bringing new talent into the business and using our expertise to support our clients’ marketing communications using new and innovative techniques”.
