Baker in talks with Radio 2 and TalkSport

Both Radio 2 and TalkSport are reportedly talking to Danny Baker after the presenter’s dramatic departure from BBC London last week.

As previously reported, Baker lashed out at his BBC bosses after hearing that they were axing his daily show on the London station, criticising management for both the decision and the way they had communicated it to him. Despite his bosses planning for him to continue presenting his daily show until the end of the year, Baker declared last Thursday would be his last appearance on the station.

Baker will continue to present his sport-themed show for another BBC station, 5Live, it has been confirmed, though any deal with TalkSport would presumably require a departure from that BBC outpost too, the commercial sports station being a head-on competitor to 5Live.

Though, and despite Baker’s outburst against BBC London management on Thursday, the DJ could end up back with two different shows for the Corporation, following rumours that Radio 2 is also interested in hiring the presenter, presumably for a weekly slot.

It’s thought BBC London was also hoping to negotiate a weekly programme with Baker after axing his daily show, but that seems unlikely after last Thursday, especially given the DJ continued to slag off his former bosses on Twitter on Friday, accusing them of being obsessed with “sending reporters out on a double decker bus to hear people’s problems”, which, he said, he wouldn’t do because “it’s fucking awful radio”.
