Awards
Awards for unsigned bands launched
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 1 April 2011
A new online awards thing cunningly calling itself the Online Music Awards has been launched. Sponsored by St Helier’s Cider it has been set up to honour the best unsigned artists in the UK (the descriptive name nonetheless fails to get this across).
Awards will go to artists working in the fields of urban, rock, pop and dance, as well as one international act, plus best music video and best music website.
The organisers say this: “St Helier Cider Online Music Awards have been created to fill a void in today’s music industry. Unsigned artists who have previously been ignored can now showcase their talents to a global audience, gaining much needed exposure and recognition. St Helier Cider Online Music Awards give musicians who are currently unsigned to a major label the opportunity to be rewarded for their work by the people who matter – the fans”.
