Avicii tells it #TRUE
By Aly Barchi | Published on Friday 21 June 2013
DJ, Swede and EDM renaissance man Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, is set to agitate the “half-stuck” electronic dance music scene via a new LP – his first, in fact – titled ‘#TRUE’.
He’ll release it via PRMD Music/Universal’s Island Records, Universal Music having sealed an international licensing deal with PRMD – Avicii’s manager Ash Pournouri’s dance label – back in May. ‘#TRUE’ will feature Chic’s Nile Rodgers, Aloe Blacc, and Incubus guitarist Michael Einziger and will be available 16 Sep.
Adds Avicii: “This is about me being true to my sound but also to my own influences and musical preferences. This album consists 100% of songs I personally love. It’s true to me, true to my brand, true to Avicii”.
And: “For me it will be successful if it resonates with people – no matter how many. It’s what I stand for, so whoever loves it loves what I love. That’s what fans are to me”.
This is its lead single ‘Wake Me Up’, which will ‘hit’ iTunes on 25 Jun:
