Approved: Tina Dico – Moon To Let (Zero 7 remix)
By Marc Samuels | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
Whilst the original version of this new single from Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dico is a pleasant enough slice of vaguely Coldplay-esque stadium synth balladry, the accompanying Zero 7 rework is a superior, otherworldly delight.
It starts as a fairly inoffensive slice of downtempo, but when those crystalline beats appear two minutes in, the track takes off to another dimension, unfurling into a beguiling slice of shimmering melancholy pop electronica. It’s essentially a dubstep ballad (think Lana Del Ray remixed by Throwing Snow) which recalls the equally brilliant genre mashing mixes of Feist by Boys Noize and Chromeo from 2007.
The original is taken from forthcoming album ‘Where Do You Go To Disappear?’, released on 10 Sep on Finest Gramophone. The Zero 7 mix is up on Soundcloud now.
