Approved: The Response
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 8 December 2015
Having recorded and self-released three albums in their home city of Christchurch, New Zealand, indie-pop duo The Response decided a change was needed before they got to work on their fourth. So they upped sticks and moved to Vancouver, Canada.
The new record’s first single, ‘You Wanted To Go’, suggests that it was a trip worth making. It’s a softly floating synth track, with a sparse arrangement that leaves space for Andy and Vic Knopp’s twin vocals, before a final lift from a simple guitar melody.
There’s more to come from the new album, but for now have a listen to this slowed down version of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’.
