Approved: The Ramona Flowers
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 9 October 2012
Signed to Distiller Records earlier this year, The Ramona Flowers have since been working on their debut album with Lamb’s Andy Barlow as producer and engineer Jason Cox, the latter more commonly found working with Damon Albarn. With the full-length record still having its parts slotted into their final positions, the band are due to release their debut EP, ‘Dismantle And Rebuild’ on 5 Nov.
The title track of the EP (handily streaming below) is a great introduction to the band. Starting out as understated, dubstep inflected electro-pop, its chorus announces itself with a rush of guitar and popping synth percussion. Suddenly the vocals switch from quiet and fragile to soaring and powerful, completing the dramatic transition.
