Fathers to last year’s ‘Open Your Heart’ LP, Brooklyn’s The Men are back and toting new single ‘Electric’, whose 22 Jan release date antecedes that of the band’s fourth long player ‘New Moon’. Whilst in the past, and perhaps made most blatant in tracks like ‘Bataile’, the band’s standard sonic stance came cased in a corona of steel and bile, teeth bared, ‘Open Your Heart’ was, in its way, less so, and at ease revelling in devil-may-care blues (‘Candy’), fraught instrumentals (‘Ex-Dreams’) and even strange shaman chants (‘Presence’).

Given ‘Open Your Heart’ and its… well, openness to new modes, ‘Electric’ is even less manacled by the sheer incessant noise of The Men’s early LPs, thus leaving space and time between bars to realise it for what it is, a formidable chip off the ‘classic rock’ block.

The Men will play live at London’s Garage on 19 Mar in post-release promotion of ‘New Moon’, which is out via Sacred Bones on 4 Mar. But first, to pass the intervening time, this is ‘Electric’:
