Approved: The Knife – Tomorrow, In A Year
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 15 February 2010
Probably the world’s most exciting and enchanting electronic band, The Knife announced their most ambitious project yet last year with ‘Tomorrow, In A Year’, an opera based on Charles Darwin’s ‘On The Origin Of The Species’.
Though a challenging and disparate record, there are tracks that can be listened to as standalone works, including the regimented and spooky ‘Colouring In Pigeons, and ‘The Height of Summer’, which reverberates with a signature synth bassline that envelops the entire track, interrupted only by intermittent distant whistles.
The entire record is still streaming via the link below, which also has info on performances of the entire opera. I’m hoping for imminent UK dates.
