Approved: Spectrals – Milky Way
By Aly Barchi | Published on Tuesday 2 April 2013
Oh, so this is what Chet ‘JR’ White has done to pass the time since his and Christopher Owens’ Girls relationship ended back in July – ‘this’ being adding “beautiful noise” to ‘Milky Way’, the new single by Spectrals, aka Louis Jones.
Part of Jones and band’s new LP ‘Sob Story’, a post-script to 2011’s ‘Bad Penny’, the track – a sour note to an ex-lover (“She couldn’t be you if she tried”) – bears White’s mark in its part clipped, part uncurling guitar phrasings.
Says Louis, who’ll share his ‘Sob Story’ via Wichita Recordings on 3 Jun: “I like how it slips in and out of being a pop song, all credit to JR for that. I got Will [Jones] to do that drum bit at the beginning because I desperately want to have songs on Sky Sports adverts and I want to go on Soccer AM”.
