Ryn Weaver is completely unknown, has only been on Facebook for a few weeks, and has just one track on her SoundCloud profile. So when it went online last week, it was a massive boost to have artists like Charli XCX, Hayley Williams and Jessie Ware all tweeting about it. It’s almost as if she’s already got a lot of money behind her.
Cynicism aside, ‘OctaHate’ is a really good track and deserves the outpouring of love – good promotion alone doesn’t get you over half a million plays in a week. Produced by Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos, it also features contributions from Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Charli XCX.
