Approved: RABBII

RABBII (which apparently stands for Revolutions Are Best Before Initial Inception, but let’s just stick with RABBII) are Johanna Berglund and Felix Persson. Over the last year they’ve released a series of downbeat pop singles: ‘Why Can’t I Be You’, ‘Hang Us High’, ‘Chameleon’, and now ‘New Friends’.
The ‘in the club’ genre of song is one that is somewhat oversubscribed, but Berglund sings the chorus line, “I have missed you in the club, used to keep our hands up high” so forlornly, it’s impossible not to be intrigued. “The song explores depression, loss, and death”, she says. “It’s about how you can’t ever really escape it or heal, however hard you try”.
